Mike Dringenberg, born circa 1965, is an American comics artist renowned for his influential work on DC Comics/Vertigo's The Sandman series alongside the esteemed writer Neil Gaiman. Dringenberg was instrumental in the creation of the iconic character Death, one of the series' most beloved figures. His unique contribution lies in being the sole creator of Death's image, which was not based on an original description by Gaiman but instead inspired by his friend, Cinamon Hadley.
Dringenberg spent his early life growing up in Germany before emigrating to the United States in the early 1970s. He pursued his passion for art at the University of Utah, where he studied illustration and graphic design. Beyond his notable work in comics, Dringenberg has also illustrated for graphic novels and CD covers, showcasing his versatile artistic talents.
