James Michael Reaves was an American writer, renowned for his contributions as a scriptwriter and story editor to numerous animated television series of the 1980s and 1990s, notably Disney's "Gargoyles" and "Batman: The Animated Series". In addition to his television work, he authored media tie-in novels, children's books, and original fiction.
Reaves often collaborated with other writers such as Steve Perry, Neil Gaiman, Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff, and his daughter Mallory Reaves. His notable achievements include winning a 1993 Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in an Animated Program for his work on "Batman: The Animated Series".
In his later years, Reaves was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. He actively maintained a blog sharing his experiences dealing with the disease, including its impact on his ability to type and speak coherently. Michael Reaves passed away in Los Angeles on March 20, 2023, at the age of 72.
