Melissa Marr

Melissa Marr is an American author known for her young adult and urban fantasy novels. She was born on July 25, 1972. Marr is a former university literature instructor who writes fiction for adults, teens, and children. Additionally, she sometimes teaches in an MFA program. Her books have been translated into twenty-eight languages and have been bestsellers internationally and domestically, featuring in lists such as the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal.

After a quieter period due to adopting a sick baby and experiencing health complications from lupus, Marr is making a return in 2024 with several new works including a queer fantasy titled Remedial Magic, a picture book called Family is Family about a wee one and his two moms, and a graphic novel The Strange Adventures of Harleen & Harley about teen Harley & Ivy.

She currently lives with part of her family, which includes her wife and two of her three children.
