Mats Olof Erling Strandberg is a Swedish author born in 1976. He is well-known for his work as a columnist for Aftonbladet, Sweden's largest evening newspaper. Mats debuted with his novel Jaktsäsong in 2006, and has since become a prominent name in Swedish literature.
In 2011, he co-authored the young adult fantasy novel Cirkeln, the first book in the Engelsfors trilogy, with Sara Bergmark Elfgren. This novel was nominated for the August Prize in the youth literature category.
Strandberg is also acclaimed for his horror novels. His 2015 novel Färjan, set on a Baltic Sea cruiseferry, was translated into English as Blood Cruise. In 2017, he published Hemmet, a chilling tale about a residential care home haunted by ghosts. His subsequent novel Slutet, released in 2018, is a preapocalyptic young adult novel about the final weeks on Earth before a comet strikes. His 2021 horror novel Konferensen, about a corporate conference-turned-nightmare, was adapted into a film in 2023.
Strandberg is married to actor Johan Ehn since 2015.
