Matilde Asensi Carratalá is a Spanish journalist and writer, born in 1962, who specializes mainly in historical novels and thrillers. She has captivated more than 20 million readers worldwide, establishing herself as a reference in quality best-sellers within the Spanish language.
According to the magazine Que Leer, she is hailed as the ‘Queen of the adventure novels’. Asensi's works, known for their indubitable quality and well-researched historical documentation, have been translated into 15 languages.
Her notable work, The Last Cato, won the 2007 International Latino Award in the category of ‘best mystery novel’ and received an honorable mention for ‘best adventure novel’. The subsequent year, her book Everything Under the Sky secured second place at the International Latino Award. In 2011, she was honored with the Honour Award.
