Maryrose Wood

Maryrose Wood is a renowned author known for her delightful and quirky middle-grade novels. Her latest book, Alice's Farm, A Rabbit’s Tale, has received critical acclaim, with the New York Times describing it as "delightful and quirky and full of good will…necessary for some kids right now." This tale features a wild rabbit who collaborates with a human boy to save their shared farmland home and was named a Charlotte Huck recommended book by the NCTE.

Wood fell in love with writing middle-grade fiction with her series The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place, about a teenaged governess and her trio of raised-by-wolves pupils. The series was published by Balzer + Bray and has appeared on numerous "Best Children’s Books of the Year" lists.

Earlier in her career, Maryrose Wood wrote young adult novels, including My Life: The Musical and Why I Let My Hair Grow Out. Her essays and short fiction have been featured in various anthologies like Recycle This Book and Dear Bully.

Wood began her creative career in the theater, notably in the original Broadway cast of Merrily We Roll Along. She is a three-time winner of the Richard Rodgers Award for her work as a lyricist/librettist.

A native New Yorker, Wood has also lived in Southern California and now resides in southern Italy. She is a mother to two adult children and offers training and mentorship for writers through Path of the Storyteller.
