Mary E. Pearson (born August 14, 1955) is an American children's writer best known for her contributions to young adult fiction. Her noteworthy achievements include winning the 2006 Golden Kite Award for fiction for her book A Room on Lorelei Street. Another significant work, The Adoration of Jenna Fox, was a finalist for the Andre Norton Award and is currently being adapted into a movie.
Beyond her accolades, Pearson's journey into the world of writing is filled with a vivid imagination that began in her childhood. She spent her youth climbing tall trees, imagining herself as a hero in fantastical worlds, or running along fence tops and roofs pretending to be a spy equipped with a bagful of amazing gadgets. Interestingly, she never broke a bone until a gym class incident involving a basketball, highlighting her physical adventures never quite matched her imaginative ones.
Today, Pearson continues to dwell in the make-believe worlds she crafts within her books. Her work includes the completed trilogy, The Remnant Chronicles, which received a starred review from Publisher’s Weekly, praising it as "masterfully crafted". Her most recent series, Dance of Thieves, showcases her ability to weave dangerous and intriguing tales that captivate her readers. Pearson resides in that sweet spot where imagination meets the pen, crafting stories that resonate with both young adults and the young at heart.
