Margaret Edith Weis is an American fantasy and science fiction author known for her extensive contributions to the genre. She was born on March 16, 1948. Weis has authored dozens of novels and short stories.
While at TSR, Inc., she collaborated with Tracy Hickman to create the Dragonlance role-playing game (RPG) world. Additionally, she is the founding CEO and owner of Sovereign Press, Inc and Margaret Weis Productions, through which she has licensed several popular television and movie franchises to create RPG series alongside their original works.
In 1999, Pyramid magazine recognized Weis as one of The Millennium's Most Influential Persons, noting that she and Hickman are "basically responsible for the entire gaming fiction genre." Her contributions to the field were further acknowledged in 2002 when she was inducted into the Origins Hall of Fame for her work on Dragonlance.
