Lorrie Moore

Lorrie Moore, born Marie Lorena Moore, is an acclaimed American writer, critic, and essayist, renowned for her penetrating and witty short stories. Since embarking on her writing career in 1984, Moore has also dedicated herself to nurturing the next generation of writers through her role as a creative writing instructor.

Moore's literary talent has been recognized with a multitude of awards, including the prestigious PEN/Malamud Award and Rea Award for her outstanding contribution to the short story form. Her commitment to the arts has been further acknowledged with a fellowship from the Lannan Foundation and membership in the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Moore currently holds the esteemed position of Gertrude Conaway Vanderbilt Professor of English at Vanderbilt University.
