Lisa Lutz

Lisa Lutz is a New York Times bestselling author known for her engaging novels. Born on March 13, 1970, she began her career writing screenplays in Hollywood. One of her rejected screenplays became the basis for the popular series of novels about a family of private investigators, the Spellmans.

Lisa Lutz is the author of eleven novels, including The Accomplice (released in January 2022), The Swallows, The Passenger, How to Start a Fire, and the six novels in the Spellman series. She has won the Alex Award and has been nominated for the Edgar Award for Best Novel.

Although she attended UC Santa Cruz, UC Irvine, the University of Leeds in England, and San Francisco State University, she does not hold a bachelor's degree. Lisa spent most of the 1990s working various low-paying jobs while writing and rewriting the screenplay Plan B, a mob comedy.
