Kiran Bhat

Kiran Bhat is an Indian–American novelist, poet, short-story writer, literary critic, and translator. He has authored several works, including the poetry collections Autobiografia and Speaking in Tongues (2022), as well as the novel We of the Forsaken World (2020).

Bhat defines himself as a novelist writing for the global age. His upbringing spanned across different cultures and regions: his parents made Atlanta their home, while his grandmother's influence tied him to Mysore. In his pursuit to embrace global cultures, Bhat chose to make diverse cities like New York, Madrid, Lisboa, São Paulo, Cuzco, Delhi, Mombasa, Tokyo, Istanbul, Yogyakarta, Bangalore, Shanghai, Moscow, and Cairo his homes.

Remarkably, Bhat has traveled to 140 countries over the past decade, lived in 25 different corners of the world, and speaks 12 languages.

He currently resides in Mumbai and has published a variety of works in multiple languages, including the Portuguese-language story cycle Afora Adentro (2020) and the Spanish-language poetry collection Autobiografia (2019), along with a Mandarin-language poetry collection Kiran Speaks.
