Kimberley Freeman is the pen name of Kim Wilkins, an acclaimed Australian author born in London on 22 December 1966. Her family moved back to Australia when she was three years old, and she grew up in Queensland, where she currently resides. Kimberley has a prolific career, writing in various genres including speculative fiction, contemporary women's fiction, young adult fiction, and children's fiction.
Under her birth name, Kim Wilkins, she has written award-winning children's, historical, and speculative fiction. Adopting the pen name Kimberley Freeman for her commercial women's fiction novels was a tribute to her maternal grandmother and a way to capture the spirit of the page-turning novels she has always cherished.
Kimberley is the author of more than twenty-five mass-market novels, including her debut horror novel, The Infernal (1997), which garnered Aurealis Awards for both horror and fantasy. Her works have been translated into twenty languages.
Academically accomplished, Kimberley holds a first-class Honours degree in literature (1998), an MA (2000), and a PhD (2006) from the University of Queensland, where she also serves as a Professor of Writing.
