Ken Dryden is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender, politician, lawyer, businessman, and author. He was born on August 8, 1947, in Hamilton, Ontario. Dryden is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame and an Officer of the Order of Canada. He played for the Montreal Canadiens in the NHL, leading them to six Stanley Cup victories in the 1970s. In 1983, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. After retiring from hockey, he became an author and businessman. His book, The Game, published in 1983, was a commercial and critical success, earning a nomination for the Governor General's Award. He also served as the president of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1997. Ken Dryden was a Liberal Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2011 and served as Minister of Social Development from 2004 to 2006. In 2017, he was named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players, and in 2020, he received the Order of Hockey in Canada.
