Kaui Hart Hemmings is an American writer, best known for her 2007 novel The Descendants, which was adapted into a film of the same title. The film adaptation was directed by Alexander Payne and starred George Clooney. Before her success with The Descendants, Hemmings published a collection of short stories titled House of Thieves, and wrote the screenplay for the 1999 television movie Shelly Fisher. Her works also include The Possibilities, Juniors, and How to Party with an Infant which was published on August 9, 2016.
