Katsura Hoshino

Katsura Hoshino (Japanese: 星野 桂, Hepburn: Hoshino Katsura, born April 21, 1980) is a renowned Japanese manga artist hailing from Shiga Prefecture.

Hoshino made her debut in July 2003 with her first manga series Continue and gained significant recognition for her work on D.Gray-man, which began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump in May 2004. D.Gray-man has seen various adaptations, including an anime series and three light novel adaptations. Three volumes of this series were among Japan's bestselling manga in 2008, establishing it as one of Weekly Shōnen Jump's bestselling manga series. It has also been well-received internationally, with notable success in North America and France, where it won the prize for Best Manga Series 2006 at the Anime and Manga 2007 French Grand Prix organized by Animeland.

In addition to her acclaimed work on manga, Hoshino contributed character designs for the 2013 Sunrise anime Valvrave the Liberator, marking her first original work on an anime.

Katsura Hoshino is highly praised for her art style, which has been compared to notable artists like Joe Madureira, Kelley Jones, and Chris Bachalo. Her character designs are especially notable, receiving comments ranging from "especially lovely" to "the most visually striking element" of her art.
