Kathryn Lasky

Kathryn Lasky is a renowned American author, celebrated for her extensive contributions to children's literature. She was born on June 24, 1944, and grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. Lasky has also written novels for adults under the pseudonyms Kathryn Lasky Knight and E. L. Swann.

Lasky's literary repertoire includes several acclaimed series and books such as the Dear America series, The Royal Diaries, Sugaring Time (which earned a Newbery Honor), and most notably, the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series, which was adapted into the major motion picture Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole. Her works have been translated into 19 languages and have garnered numerous awards, including the National Jewish Book Award (twice), the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award, and the Washington Post-Children's Book Guild Nonfiction Award.

Kathryn Lasky resides in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with her husband, Christopher Knight, a former National Geographic photographer and documentary filmmaker. They have two children, Max and Meribah, who have pursued careers in literature and journalism, respectively.
