Kate Constable is an Australian author born in 1966. She is best known for her debut novel, The Singer of All Songs, which is the first book in the Chanters of Tremaris trilogy. The series continued with The Waterless Sea and The Tenth Power.
Kate was born in Sandringham, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. During her childhood, her family relocated to Papua New Guinea, where her father worked as a pilot. She pursued an Arts/Law degree at Melbourne University. Post-graduation, she worked for Warner Music, a period during which she began writing.
Her initial literary creations were short stories. Her adventure into novel writing coincided with meeting her future husband, and soon after they had a daughter. Her first official novel, The Singer of All Songs, was released in 2002, just weeks after her daughter was born.
