Karen Traviss is a British science fiction author from Wiltshire, England. She is best known for her work in military science fiction, including the Wess'Har series, and has also written tie-in material based on popular franchises such as Star Wars, Gears of War, Halo, and G.I. Joe. Her work spans various forms of media, including novels, short stories, comics, and video games.

Traviss is a #1 New York Times best-selling novelist, scriptwriter, and comics author. She has received critical acclaim for her award-nominated Wess'Har series. In addition to her known works, she has recently worked on the Nomad Series alongside Nick Cole and Jason Anspach and on a techno-thriller series called RINGER, set in today's real world.

Before becoming a full-time author, Traviss was a defense correspondent and TV and newspaper journalist. She currently resides in Wiltshire, England, and is working on Sacrificial Red, the third book in the Ringer series, and Here We Stand, book three in the Nomad series.
