Justina Ireland

Justina Ireland is a New York Times bestselling author known for her works of science fiction and fantasy, particularly in the young adult genre. Born on February 7, 1985, she is celebrated for her novel Dread Nation, which won the 2019 Locus Award and was nominated for several others, including the Andre Norton, Bram Stoker, and Lodestar Awards.

Justina is also recognized for her role as the former editor-in-chief of the FIYAH Literary Magazine of Black Speculative Fiction, for which she received the 2018 World Fantasy Award. Her academic background includes a BA in History from Georgia Southern and an MFA in Creative Writing from Hamline University.

Beyond her novels, Justina has contributed to the Star Wars universe with several books, such as Flight of the Falcon: Lando’s Luck and Spark of the Resistance. She is one of the story architects for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia initiative.

In addition to her literary contributions, Justina Ireland has been involved in screenwriting, contributing to Netflix’s The Fall of the House of Usher and other projects. Her work in comics includes collaborations with Boom!, Dark Horse, IDW, and Marvel.

Justina continues to be a prominent figure in speculative fiction, advocating for diversity and representation in storytelling.
