Carl Valdemar Jussi Henry Adler-Olsen is a Danish writer of crime fiction, as well as a publisher, editor, and entrepreneur. He was born on 2 August 1950. Adler-Olsen made his debut as a nonfiction writer in 1984 and as a fiction writer in 1997. He is best known for his Department Q series.

Jussi Adler-Olsen began his career as a publisher, editor, and film composer for the Valhalla cartoon and as a bookseller before venturing into novel writing in the 1990s. His first novel, "Alfabethuset" (1997), achieved bestseller status both in Denmark and internationally. His subsequent novels, "And She Thanked the Gods" (2003) and "The Washington Decree" (2006), also gained significant popularity.

The first book in the Department Q series is "Kvinden I buret" (2007), followed by "Fasandræberne" (2008). The main detective character in the series is Deputy Superintendent Carl Mørck, who continues to be featured in subsequent volumes, including the third book, "Flaskepost fra P", released in 2009.
