Jude Deveraux

Jude Deveraux (born Jude Gilliam, September 20, 1947) is a renowned American author of historical romances. Over her illustrious career, she has penned over 40 novels, many of which have graced The New York Times Best Seller list, including popular titles like A Knight in Shining Armor and Remembrance. As of 2016, she has sold over 50 million copies of her work.

Born in Fairdale, Kentucky, Jude was the eldest sister in a family with four brothers. She pursued higher education at Murray State University, earning a degree in Art. In 1967, Jude married, adopting the surname White from her husband, though the marriage ended in divorce four years later.

Before establishing herself as a writer, Jude worked as a 5th-grade teacher. She embarked on her writing journey in 1976, releasing her debut novel, The Enchanted Land, in 1977 under the pseudonym Jude Deveraux. Following her novel's publication, she dedicated herself to writing full-time.

Jude Deveraux captivated readers with the Velvet series, which chronicles the lives and loves of the irresistibly charming Montgomery men. Her early works continue to endear her to romance enthusiasts around the world.

Jude also made an appearance as herself in the 1987 romance novelist documentary Where the Heart Roams.
