José António Afonso Rodrigues dos Santos (born 1 April 1964) is a Portuguese journalist, novelist, and university lecturer. He has been a prominent face on Portuguese television as one of the presenters of Telejornal, the evening news program on the Portuguese public television channel RTP1, since 1991.
In addition to his journalism career, José Rodrigues dos Santos is a prolific author, known for his thriller and historical fiction novels. He is celebrated as one of Portugal's best-selling novelists, with several of his works achieving blockbuster status. His notable novels include Codex 632, The Einstein Enigma, The Seventh Seal, and The Wrath of God. His works have been translated into 17 languages, underscoring his international acclaim.
His novel The Wrath of God won the 2009 Porto Literary Club Award, and Codex 632 was longlisted for the 2010 IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. His debut novel, The Island of Darkness, is currently being adapted for cinema by a prominent Portuguese film director.
