Jonas Jonasson, born Per Ola Jonasson on July 6, 1961, is an acclaimed Swedish journalist and writer. He is perhaps best known for his best-selling novel, The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared.
Before embarking on his writing career, Jonasson had a long and varied career in the media industry. He worked as a journalist, media consultant, and television producer. In a bold move to start anew, Jonasson sold all his possessions in Sweden and relocated to a small town by Lake Lugano in Switzerland, just a few meters from the Italian border. It was here that he wrote the manuscript that would become his first novel, which quickly turned into a phenomenon in Sweden and garnered attention worldwide.
