John Angus McPhee is an American writer, celebrated as one of the pioneers of creative nonfiction. Born on March 8, 1931, McPhee has made significant contributions to the literary world.
He has been a four-time finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in the category of General Nonfiction and secured the award on his fourth attempt in 1999 for Annals of the Former World, a collection of five books including two of his previous Pulitzer finalists.
In recognition of his contributions to American journalism, McPhee was honored with the George Polk Career Award in 2008, marking his indelible impact during his extensive career. Since 1974, he has served as the Ferris Professor of Journalism at Princeton University.
