John Elder Robison

John Elder Robison is an American author born on August 13, 1957, known for his memoir Look Me in the Eye (2007), which details his life with undiagnosed Asperger syndrome and savant abilities. Robison wrote his first book at the age of 49 and has authored three other books.

Robison's career began in the music industry, where in the 1970s he became known for creating special effects used by the band KISS. Throughout the 1980s, he worked with companies such as Milton Bradley Company, Simplex, and ISOREG, focusing on electronic game design, fire alarms, building control, and power conditioners.

Born in rural Georgia, Robison grew up as a self-described misfit and dropped out of school in the 10th grade. He began various careers, including designing sound systems for discos and bands, before transitioning to technology and eventually starting an automobile repair business.
