Johanna Lindsey

Johanna Lindsey, born Johanna Helen Howard, was a renowned American writer of historical romance novels. Born on March 10, 1952, in Germany due to her father's military assignment, she lived in various locations during her early life. Her father, Edwin Dennis Howard, had always dreamed of retiring in Hawaii, and after his passing in 1964, Johanna and her mother fulfilled that wish.

In 1970, Johanna married Ralph Lindsey while she was still a student, becoming a young housewife and later a mother to three children: Alfred, Joseph, and Garret. Her writing career commenced with her debut novel, Captive Bride, published in 1977 "on a whim," which became a significant success. Throughout her career, Johanna Lindsey's works consistently made it to the New York Times bestseller list, with many reaching the coveted No. 1 spot. By 2006, her books had sold over 58 million copies worldwide.

After her husband passed away, Johanna moved to Maine, New England, to stay close to her family. She continued to write until her death on October 27, 2019, leaving behind a legacy of beloved romance novels.
