Jessica was born in Chesapeake, Virginia. She was raised within the Native American culture and was taught great respect for the earth and all its living beings. Powwows, sweat lodges, and vision quests were commonplace. She describes herself as "the weird kid who would confront kids on the playground in elementary school when they squished a bug." She grew up admiring her father, Barry Weinstock, as an author. He took her around the country to different places so he could research his books. When Jessica was twelve, she started handwriting novels. Her first one was two thousand pages. Her daughter, who is fourteen, is currently working on her first novel and hopes to continue the legacy.
