Jennifer Haigh

Jennifer Haigh is an American novelist and short story writer known for her works in the realist tradition. Her writing style has been compared to that of Richard Ford, Richard Price, and Richard Russo.

Her novel MERCY STREET tackles the contentious issue of abortion rights, following the daily life of Claudia Birch, a counselor at a women's clinic in Boston. Another significant work, HEAT AND LIGHT, explores a Pennsylvania town divided by fracking controversy and was recognized as a Best Book of 2016 by notable publications like The New York Times and NPR.

Haigh's earlier novels include FAITH, about a Boston priest accused of molestation, and THE CONDITION, which tells the story of a woman diagnosed with Turner's Syndrome. Her debut novel, MRS. KIMBLE, was critically acclaimed and won the PEN/Hemingway Award for first fiction.
