Jacqueline A. Carey is an acclaimed American writer renowned for her contributions to the fantasy fiction genre. Born on October 9, 1964, in Highland Park, Illinois, Carey embarked on her literary journey with a strong academic background, holding B.A. degrees in psychology and English literature from Lake Forest College. During her college years, she gained valuable experience working in a bookstore as part of a work exchange program, a period during which she resolved to pursue a career in writing.
After college, Carey initiated her writing career while working at the art center of a local college. Her persistence paid off when, after a decade of dedicated effort, she achieved success with the publication of her first book in 2001. Carey's work has since earned her a spot on the New York Times bestseller list, notably with the critically acclaimed Kushiel’s Legacy series, The Sundering epic fantasy duology, the postmodern fables Santa Olivia and Saints Astray, and the Agent of Hel contemporary fantasy series.
