Jacqueline Carey is an American author and novelist, primarily known for her works in fantasy fiction. Born on October 9, 1964, in Highland Park, Illinois, she pursued her education at Lake Forest College where she received B.A.'s in psychology and English literature.
During college, she had a significant experience working in a bookstore as part of a work exchange program, which inspired her to pursue writing professionally. After college, she began her writing career while also working at the art center of a local college. It was ten years later that she found success with the publication of her first book in 2001.
Carey is notably recognized for her Kushielโs Legacy series of historical fantasy novels, the Sundering epic fantasy duology, postmodern fables Santa Olivia and Saints Astray, and the Agent of Hel contemporary fantasy series.
As a New York Times bestseller, Carey's affinity for travel has taken her across the globe from Finland to China. Despite frequent inquiries from her fans, she has no tattoos. Currently, she resides in western Michigan and is a member of the oldest Mardi Gras krewe.
