Isobelle Carmody

Isobelle Jane Carmody is an acclaimed Australian writer known for her contributions to the genres of science fiction, fantasy, children's literature, and young adult literature. Her works have earned her numerous accolades, including the prestigious Aurealis Award for best children's fiction.

Isobelle began her writing career while still in high school with the novel that would become part of her highly acclaimed series, the Obernewtyn Chronicles. The series has cemented her status as a leading figure in fantasy writing in Australia.

In addition to the beloved Obernewtyn Chronicles, Isobelle has authored several other notable young adult novels, including Alyzon Whitestarr. Her diverse range of works also includes middle-grade fantasies and the unfinished Gateway Trilogy, which has been compared favorably to classics such as The Wizard of Oz and The Chronicles of Narnia. Her Little Fur quartet, an eco-fantasy series, features a unique half-elf, half-troll heroine and showcases Isobelle's talents as both a writer and an illustrator.

One of her most recent achievements is the picture book Magic Night, a collaboration with illustrator Declan Lee, originally published in Australia as The Wrong Side of the Night.
