Isobelle Jane Carmody is an acclaimed Australian writer known for her contributions to the genres of science fiction, fantasy, children's literature, and young adult literature. Her works have earned her numerous accolades, including the prestigious Aurealis Award for best children's fiction.

Isobelle began her writing career while still in high school with the novel that would become part of her highly acclaimed series, the Obernewtyn Chronicles. The series has cemented her status as a leading figure in fantasy writing in Australia.

In addition to the beloved Obernewtyn Chronicles, Isobelle has authored several other notable young adult novels, including Alyzon Whitestarr. Her diverse range of works also includes middle-grade fantasies and the unfinished Gateway Trilogy, which has been compared favorably to classics such as The Wizard of Oz and The Chronicles of Narnia.
