Ingeborg Bachmann

Ingeborg Bachmann was an Austrian poet and author, acclaimed as one of the major voices of German-language literature in the 20th century. She was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1963 by German philologist Harald Patzer.

Bachmann's work spans various genres, including lyric poetry, short prose, radio plays, libretti, lectures, and essays. Her oeuvre aimed to bring people into the experiences of the writers and offered new experiences of suffering. Her insightful and artistically original representation of female subjectivity within a male-dominated society has been especially influential.
