Immanuel Maurice Wallerstein was an American sociologist and economic historian, notable for developing the world-systems approach in sociology. He served as a Senior Research Scholar at Yale University from 2000 until his demise in 2019. Wallerstein was also recognized for his bimonthly syndicated commentaries on global affairs, published through Agence Global from October 1998 to July 2019.
He held the position of the 13th president of the International Sociological Association from 1994 to 1998.
