Ian W. Toll

Ian W. Toll (born 1967) is an American author and military historian known for his significant contributions to literature on naval history. He resides in New York City.

His most notable work is The Pacific War Trilogy, a comprehensive three-volume history that meticulously details the Pacific War. Along with this, he authored Pacific Crucible: War at Sea in the Pacific, 1941-1942 and Six Frigates: The Epic History of the Founding of the U.S. Navy, which received prestigious accolades such as the Samuel Eliot Morison Award and the William E. Colby Award.

Toll splits his time living between San Francisco and New York.
