Huntley Fitzpatrick, born Huntley M. Funsten, was an American novelist renowned for her work in young adult (YA) fiction. Fitzpatrick's journey as a writer began in her childhood, where she was raised in a quaint coastal town in Connecticut. Her early dreams of becoming a writer followed her through her formative years.
She completed her education at Concord Academy in Concord, Massachusetts, graduating in 1981, and furthered her studies at Yale University. Before embarking on her full-time writing career, Fitzpatrick honed her editorial skills in academic publishing and later sharpened her focus on teen titles at Harlequin.
Her literary debut came with the contemporary romance novel MY LIFE NEXT DOOR, which was published in June 2012 by Penguin-Dial for Young Readers. Living in Massachusetts, Fitzpatrick's personal life was bustling as she shared it with her husband and their six children. Her family life not only provided her with a well-grounded perspective but also served as a rich source of inspiration for her storytelling. Sadly, Fitzpatrick's voice was silenced in April 2022 after a prolonged illness, leaving a legacy that continues to resonate with YA readers.
