Holly Goldberg Sloan is an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and New York Times bestselling novelist. She was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and spent her childhood living in California, the Netherlands, Istanbul, Washington, DC, and Oregon.
Holly wrote the screenplay for Angels in the Outfield and directed The Big Green, among other successful family feature films. She is the mother of two sons and currently resides in Santa Monica, California, with her husband, writer Gary Rosen.
Her debut novel, I'll Be There, was followed by Counting By 7s, which was Amazon's best novel of the year for middle grade. Other works include Just Call My Name and Appleblossom the Possum.
Holly attended college at Wellesley in Massachusetts and spent her junior year at Dartmouth College. She moved to Los Angeles and sold her first screenplay at the age of twenty-four. Over the years, she has written eight successful family feature films, including Angels in the Outfield and the Disney movie The Big Green, which she also directed.
Outside of her writing career, Holly is a sports fan, loves to cook, and contributes to Amy Ephronβs food blog, ONE FOR THE TABLE. She cherishes spending time with her family and friends around her dining room table, and enjoys taking long walks by the Pacific Ocean.
