Helene Wecker

Helene Deborah Wecker, born in September 1975, is an acclaimed American writer known for her enchanting blend of historical fantasy and mythopoeia. Her debut novel, The Golem and the Jinni, not only captivated readers with its unique tale but also garnered significant accolades, including the Mythopoeic Award for Adult Literature, the VCU Cabell Award for First Novel, and the Harold U. Ribalow Prize. It was also nominated for prestigious awards such as the Nebula Award and a World Fantasy Award. The saga continued with its sequel, The Hidden Palace, released in June 2021.

Wecker's literary journey is marked by her academic accomplishments, holding a B.A. in English from Carleton College and an M.F.A. in Fiction Writing from Columbia University. Her creative voice has found expression in literary journals like Joyland and Catamaran, and she contributed to the fantasy anthology The Djinn Falls in Love and Other Stories.
