Hayden Herrera

Hayden Herrera (née Philips) is an American author and historian born on November 20, 1940. She is renowned for her biography Frida: A Biography of Frida Kahlo, which was adapted into a film in 2002. Herrera's biography of Arshile Gorky, titled Arshile Gorky: His Life and Work, was recognized as a finalist for the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography.

In addition to her writing, Herrera is an art historian who has lectured widely, curated several art exhibitions, and taught Latin American art at New York University. Her scholarly contributions include numerous articles and reviews for prestigious publications such as Art in America, Art Forum, Connoisseur, and the New York Times. Her other notable books include Mary Frank and Matisse: A Portrait. Currently, she resides in New York City.
