Hanum Salsabiela Rais is a notable Indonesian politician, writer, and former television presenter from Yogyakarta. She is known for her work as a reporter and news presenter at TransTV, where she worked for five years. Hanum served as a Member of the Regional People's Representative Council of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province (DPRD DIY) from 2019 to 2024. Initially a member of the National Mandate Party, she joined the Ummah Party in 2023 and retired from politics in early 2025.
Hanum's literary journey began with the adaptation of her novel 99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa (99 Lights in the European Sky) into a screenplay. She has since penned scripts for several films, including Bulan Terbelah di Langit Amerika Parts 1 & 2 (2015–2016), Hanum Rangga: Faith and The City (2019), and I am Sarahza (2025).
She is the daughter of Amien Rais and pursued her primary education at Muhammadiyah in Yogyakarta, later earning a degree in Dentistry from FKG UGM. Her European adventure began during her stay in Austria with her husband Rangga Almahendra, where she worked on the Executive Academy video podcast project at WU Vienna for two years. Hanum was also a correspondent for detik.com covering Europe and its surroundings. In 2010, she published her first book, Menapak Jejak Amien Rais: Persembahan Seorang Putri untuk Ayah Tercinta, a biographical novel about leadership, family, and the pearls of life.
