Hal Borland

Harold "Hal" Glen Borland was an American writer, journalist, and naturalist. In addition to writing many non-fiction and fiction books about the outdoors, he was a staff writer and editorialist for The New York Times.

During World War II, he wrote radio programs for the government and served as a special magazine correspondent. He graduated from the Columbia School of Journalism and also attended the University of Colorado, receiving a Litt.D. in 1944. Borland wrote several documentary movies, volumes of poetry, a volume of essays, contributed to a play, and many non-fiction articles, short stories, and novelettes for leading magazines.
