Gregory Dale Bear was an American science fiction writer, born on August 20, 1951, and passed away on November 19, 2022. He was renowned for his exploration of galactic conflict, parallel universes, consciousness and cultural practices, and accelerated evolution in his works. Notable series include the Forge of God books, The Way series, Queen of Angels, and Blood Music, as well as Darwin's Radio and Darwin's Children. His final work was The Unfinished Land in 2021. In total, Bear authored over 50 books. He was a co-founder of the San Diego Comic-Con and was married to Astrid Anderson Bear. He was also the father of two writers, Chloe and Alexandra Bear.
Bear's distinguished career earned him multiple accolades including five Nebula Awards, two Hugo Awards, two Endeavour Awards, and the Galaxy Award from China.
