Glen Cook

Glen Charles Cook (born July 9, 1944) is an American writer of fantasy and science fiction, prominently known for his series The Black Company and Garrett P.I.

Biography:

Glen Cook was born in New York City and lived in southern Indiana during his early years before growing up in Northern California. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy and attended the University of Missouri. For 33 years, Cook worked with General Motors before retiring. His writing career commenced in his 7th grade with short stories, with some published in a high school literary magazine. He began writing with intent to publish in 1968, resulting in 51 books and numerous short fiction pieces. Cook met his wife at the Clarion Writer's Workshop in 1970, with whom he has three sons (an army officer, architect, and orchestral musician) and numerous granddaughters.
