Frank Schätzing

Frank Schätzing is a renowned German writer, born on 28 May 1957 in Cologne. He is widely recognized for his best-selling science fiction novel, The Swarm (2004). Schätzing studied communication studies and later established his advertising agency, INTEVI, in Cologne.

Beginning his writing career in 1990, Schätzing authored several novellas and satires. His first published novel was the historical Tod und Teufel in 1995, followed by the thriller Lautlos in 2000. His breakthrough came in 2004 with The Swarm, a science fiction thriller that became a worldwide bestseller.

In addition to writing novels, Schätzing has worked as a publicist, music producer, and has narrated various television documentaries. He is considered a visionary, with many of his scenarios resonating closely with our everyday reality. Schätzing is also an advocate for climate protection, actively discussing and writing about global crises and future scenarios.
