Mowat's Legacy
His dedication to environmental issues garnered both acclaim and criticism. While his exaggerations in writings led to some controversies, they also played a significant role in drawing attention to the challenges faced by the Inuit and broader environmental concerns, influencing policy changes in Ottawa. In 1970, he was honored with the Vicky Metcalf Award for Children's Literature for his contributions as a writer.
