Ernest Cline

Ernest Christy Cline is an American science fiction novelist, slam poet, and screenwriter. He was born on March 29, 1972. Cline is renowned for his novels Ready Player One, Armada, and Ready Player Two. He co-wrote the screenplay for the film adaptation of Ready Player One, directed by Steven Spielberg.


His first novel, Ready Player One, was a New York Times and USA Today bestseller and appeared on numerous β€œbest of the year” lists. His second novel, Armada, debuted at #4 on the NYT Bestseller list and is being made into a film by Universal Pictures.


Ernest Cline resides in Austin, Texas, with his family, a time-traveling DeLorean, and a large collection of classic video games.
