Emma Ríos Maneiro, born on April 1, 1976, in Vilagarcía de Arousa, Spain, is a renowned comics artist, writer, and editor. She has made a significant mark in the international comics industry with her work for top American publishers such as Marvel, Image, and Boom! Studios.
Ríos has several notable ongoing titles to her credit, including Mirror in collaboration with Malaysian artist Hwei Lim and Pretty Deadly with American writer Kelly Sue Deconnick. The series Pretty Deadly brought her critical acclaim, resulting in Eisner Award nominations for Best Penciller/Inker/Artist and Best Cover Artist in 2014 and securing the award for Best Cover Artist in 2020. Ríos is also known for her skills in rapier fencing, specifically in the traditional Spanish style known as La Verdadera Destreza.
Prior to her full-time comics career which began in 2007, Ríos juggled her interests in architecture and independent publishing. Since then, she has been an influential figure in creator-owned productions, especially after her return to Image Comics in 2013.
