Emily Raboteau

Emily Raboteau is an acclaimed American fiction writer, essayist, and Professor of Creative Writing at the City College of New York. Her work gracefully weaves together themes of social and environmental justice, race, climate change, and parenthood.

Her notable books include Lessons for Survival, Searching for Zion, which was awarded an American Book Award and was a finalist for the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award, and the critically praised novel The Professor’s Daughter. Since the publication of the 2018 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report, Raboteau's literary focus has shifted more towards the climate crisis, exploring its various facets and impacts with a discerning eye.

As a contributing editor at Orion Magazine and a regular contributor to the New York Review of Books, Raboteau's insightful writing has been featured in a wide array of respected publications, including The New Yorker, The New York Times, New York Magazine, and The Nation.
