Elisabeth Elliot was a distinguished Christian missionary, author, and speaker. Born as Elisabeth Howard on December 21, 1926, she gained widespread recognition for her missionary work and writings.
Her first husband, Jim Elliot, was tragically killed in 1956 while trying to establish communication with the Auca people (now known as the Huaorani) in eastern Ecuador. Despite this profound loss, Elisabeth spent two years living among and ministering to the very tribe members who had killed her husband.
After her time in South America, she returned to the United States and authored over twenty books, sharing her insights and experiences. Elisabeth became widely known as a speaker and toured the country well into her seventies, sharing her story and the wisdom she had gained throughout her life.
Elisabeth also dedicated her life to exploring and developing unwritten languages, a passion that began during her studies in classical Greek at Wheaton College.
