Drew Karpyshyn is a Canadian video game scenario writer, scriptwriter, and novelist. He is best known for his work as a senior writer on BioWare's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and as the lead writer for the first two Mass Effect video games.

Karpyshyn joined BioWare towards the end of the Baldur's Gate series and authored the tie-in novel for Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal. He continued his career at BioWare by working on Neverwinter Nights and eventually became the Senior Writer for the critically acclaimed Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

This connection with the Star Wars universe allowed him to pen Darth Bane: Path of Destruction, his first hardcover book. After leaving BioWare in 2012 to focus on his Chaos Born novels, he returned to the company three years later in 2015. On March 9, 2018, he announced he was leaving BioWare once again to pursue independent projects.
