Donato Carrisi is an Italian writer, director, and screenwriter, born on 25 March 1973 in Martina Franca, Apulia. He made his directorial debut with the film The Girl in the Fog (2017), based on his novel of the same name. This debut earned him a David di Donatello 2018 for Best New Director. It was featured in the 2019 Italian Film Festival in the United States, promoting Italian films across several cities.
Carrisi studied law and criminology and has been working as a TV screenwriter since 1999. His first novel, The Whisperer, won him five international literary prizes and has been sold in nearly twenty territories, translated into languages as varied as French, Danish, Hebrew, and Vietnamese. Carrisi resides in Rome.
