Dimitri Verhulst

Dimitri Verhulst (born 2 October 1972) is a Belgian writer and poet, celebrated for his evocative and often provocative novels. He gained international acclaim with his novel Problemski Hotel, a story that has been translated into over ten languages. Another notable work, The Misfortunates, has been adapted for film and is cherished as a modern classic in Dutch literature.

Verhulst's debut came in 1999, and since then he has written thirteen books, including novels, short stories, novellas, poetry, and plays. His literary prowess is recognized worldwide, with his works being published in more than twenty languages. He is regarded as one of the prominent authors from the Low Countries.

His novel The Misfortunates won the Gouden Uil Public Prize and the Libris Literature Prize for his work Godverdomse dagen op een bol. His recent book, De laatkomer, sold over 75,000 copies within six months, is being adapted into a film, and translated globally.
